Punjab News: Record High Electricity Demand Met in Punjab: CM Bhagwant Mann’s Government Ensures Uninterrupted Power Supply

Punjab News- In a significant achievement, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) successfully met a record high electricity demand of 3626 lakh units in a single day on July 16. This milestone surpasses the previous record of 3563 lakh units set on June 23, 2024.

Punjab Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh announced the achievement, attributing the surge in demand to the humid conditions and low rainfall despite the ongoing monsoon season. The increased demand has been driven by domestic consumption, irrigation for paddy crops, and industrial use across the state.

On July 16, PSPCL also met a peak demand of 15919 MW, nearing the all-time high peak demand of 16058 MW reached on June 29 of this year. Minister Harbhajan Singh highlighted that this accomplishment is the result of strategic planning and efficient resource management, ensuring that all available resources within and outside the state were fully utilized to maintain a stable and reliable power supply.
